Folk from the depths!
HietaKettu is an Oulu-based indie folk band, whose beautifully arranged songs contain notes of melancholy and hope. Their music is a mixture of harmonicity and melodicity, archaic and ascetic elements found in traditional folk music and lyrics influenced by pop music.
The stories behind the songs spring from the band members' personal experiences and thoughts. Common themes include relationships, nature, sorrow, yearning and loss - among other emotive depths. Besides folk and pop, the band's melodies and rhythms are influenced by world music.
HietaKettu have released two self-produced albums: Huono duo (2016) and Virvatuli (2020). The third album is currently being worked on.
